We are glad to announce a new initiative, organised by the Bologna Children’s Book Fair, scheduled from March the 26th to 28th 2010 in Bologna. Bolibrì will be an event open to young people, families and schools which will take place in the centre of Bologna in order to extend topics, faces and voices of the childhood literature in all the city of Bologna gathering together both people from all the Italian regions and foreign people that will be in the City.

This initiative wants to have an international perspective through a rich planning across liven up readings, meetings with the authors, exhibitions, workshops and performances. The participation will be free and the events will take place between Piazza Maggiore and the other historical places in the heart of the City. Bologna holds unquestioning national and international excellences pertaining to children’s culture. The valorisation of such excellences constitutes an element of a strong uniqueness for Bolibrì generating an important network of territorial synergies.

Since 24th March, the national reading day, in Piazza Maggiore the big Bolibrì’s bookshop will be open in a huge tent of about 800mq. This bookshop will be manned by the independent bookshops of Bologna (Libreria dei Colli, Libreria Giannino Stoppani, Libreria Irnerio, Libreria Trame, Libreria Ulisse) and it will suggest international subjects and the latest get out in the market. Starting from 24th March, the children with their parents may take an autograph on their favourite book!

The Italian Ministry of Culture, Ibby Italia and AIE (Italian Publisher’s Association), among others, support and cooperate with Bolibrì with the purpose of upgrading the literature and the diffusion of books among children and young people in Italy.

For this first edition it is be specified 5 main themes:

  1. Africa
  2. Cooking and food
  3. Science
  4. Sport

However the final programme of Bolibrì will be enriched with further events and different ideas even if they are not included in the five suggested themes provided that they will be characterized for the quality and the innovation and aim to an audience composed by children and kids between 0 and 14 years old.
